LINDA RENDLEMAN PRESENTED 2007 TORCHBEARER AWARD BY STATE
INDIANAPOLIS, Feb. 1, 2008—Linda Rendleman, founder and CEO of Business Women Connect, Inc., is the recipient of a 2008 Torchbearer Award in the category of journalism and communication. The Torchbearer Award is the highest award presented only to women by the State of Indiana.
A professional writer, speaker and facilitator, Rendleman’s background spans 30 years of promoting growth for women at home and in the workplace. In 2000, she founded Business Women Connect, an organization with the mission of developing business and professional women through mentoring, connections and resources for personal and professional growth. Rendleman’s popular editorials, Linda’s Views, are read online each week at www.businesswomenconnect.com by thousands of women and are currently being published in book format. She has also hosted her own television show on Indianapolis’ Fox 59 and her own radio show on WXNT 1430 and has made numerous presentations and facilitations on a variety of women’s issues to groups and companies throughout Indiana.
The Torchbearer Awards are presented annually by the state-sponsored Indiana Commission for Women and honor Hoosier women who have overcome obstacles or whose achievements have contributed to making the state a better place in which to live, work and raise a family. Award categories range from business, biotech, and education to engineering, sports, architecture, construction, and labor advocacy, among others. This year’s winners in the various categories were announced on January 22, 2008, in downtown Indianapolis. Since 2004, ninety-nine women, including 26 at this year’s ceremony, have been honored as Torchbearers.
